physical oceanographerWhere the oceans stops, this is where these scientists come in! If the water stops at the beach, or at the very bottom of the sea floor, these scientists are the specialists who are called. If the waters make their weather change, they figure out why that happens; or, if one area has really salty water or fast winds, they try to learn why the ocean is involved.

geological oceanographerThis is a scientist who knows the special area of the earth that the ocean covers. They study how mountains form under the water, and how things as little as the sand on the ocean floor are unique in color, shape, and their special properties that makes them different from sand outside the ocean.
chemical oceanographerThese guys are also called "marine chemists;" they work on things like why seawater is the way it is, why the ocean floor is so special, and how different chemicals in the water and ocean floor are unique. They also see how when extra chemicals come into contact with these things, how they react to their new changes, and how the ocean changes with it. Sometimes they have to look at how fish and other sea life is affected by the sea floor and waters. These scientists use a lot of information from a bunch of different types of scientists to help learn as much as they can about the ocean.

ocean engineerOcean engineering is a mix of different types of engineering: mechanical, electrical, sound, civil, and chemical engineering. These all get used with some basic ocean knowledge to figure out more difficult things about the ocean. These engineers build technology that have to be able to be tough enough to use in the ocean a lot. Salt water is bad for these tools they make, so they have to be really tough to last through waves and bad storms. Some animals also try to damage these tools, so that has to be thought of too.

aquaculturistAn aquaculturist is a fish and water plant farmer! This field has been really helped by new technology that takes "marine biotechnology" and "molecular" ideas and uses them to help make more fish where people can't get to the ocean. As technology improves, better techniques can help make more fish and plants that rely less on the ocean and helps those creatures survive better.
marine lawyerThis is a lawyer who works especially hard to help protect the ocean and ocean related things. If you break a bone while diving, or your scuba tank has a problem, a marine lawyer can help keep you from having any problems with the law. Or if something like boat accidents happen far out at sea, or your job is based on a boat, then a marine lawyer knows the right laws to look at.
molecular biologistEverything is made of atoms, and atoms make molecules, which are bigger building blocks of everything! these scientists study how molecules in the ocean and sea life affect each other, from tiny little microscopic bacteria to the biggest of mammals and fishes.
environmental scientistThese are scientists who specialize in the environment. They study how the natural world works to protect the oceans, and even animals like people who use the ocean a lot. They can clean up the oceans and beaches, help people make new rules and laws to protect the environment, and even help people make less waste and trash to keep the oceans clean. Sometimes they work in offices, or sometimes they can work out in the outside world, either way these guys are dedicated to protecting the earth and our waters.
toxicologistThese scientists help make the world not "toxic", which means sick or dirty from unhealthy and bad things. They help keep waters clean so fishes and sea life aren't harmed just by swimming or being there, and they help keep the oceans from getting polluted.
microbiologistJust like how a biologist studies life, a microbiologist studies really small life! creatures that are too small to see without tools like a microscope are called microorganisms, and these scientists study them in particular. microbiologists study creatures like bacteria and algae and figure out why they are important in the world and what they do with the world around them. Even if they're really small, these scientists found out that even the smallest creatures make up some of the biggest amount of creatures in the world!
marine mammologistThis is a marine biologist who specifically studies the mammals who live in the oceans, like whales and dolphins. They study how the sounds these mammals make help them communicate through the giant oceans, and help figure out ways to keep these animals safe and healthy. Not every one of these scientists has to work in the ocean, as many can work in places like museums and aquariums to help teach others about the mammals who live in the ocean.
marine policy specialistThese are people who learn and make rules about oceans and aquatic life. When laws have to be made, these are the specialists who are called to help learn about what the rules do and how to help make better rules.

artist"What can environmental art do to help the environment?" Actually, a lot. Art can help improve our relationship with the natural world- especially the ocean! This art can help increase people’s awareness on a certain topic via artwork. Some artists show the beauty of nature, while others aim to show their audience the impact that humans have on nature.

photographerPhotographers, like artists, can also help the environment! They are professionals that focus on the art of taking photos with either a digital or film camera.
