The straightnose rabbitfish (Rhinochimaera atlantica) goes by a variety of names! Also known as the broadnose chimaera, knifenose chimaera, and spearnose chimaera, they are a species of fish in the Rhinochimaeridae family.
They have been observed off of the shores of Canada, Colombia, France, Gambia, Iceland, Mauritania, Mexico, Namibia, Senegal, South Africa, Suriname, and the United States to name a few places. Its natural habitat is open seas. It is threatened by habitat loss, and we know very little else about it... which is why the IUCN has assessed it as Least Concern (LC).
