The ghost skate (Notoraja hirticauda) is a small, pale coloured skate with a heart-shaped disc, flexible snout, and a long, slender tail. They have a granular dorsal side and a pale (or translucent) underbelly. They get up to at least 45 cm in length.
Found on the continental slopes off Shark Bay to the Monte Bello Islands in Western Australia at depths of 500-760 metres (m). Not much else is known about these animals. The IUCN has assessed these animals as Data Deficient (DD).
