Recently, taxonomic research into elasmobranchs has described three new species in the genus Neotrygon. The Blue-spotted maskray (Neotrygon kuhlii) was recently split into different animals! We have recently talked about Australian Bluespotted maskray (N. australiae), and Oriental Bluespotted Maskray (N. orientale), so today we will talk about the Bluespotted maskray (N. caeruleopunctata). Researchers also resurrected a fourth one, N. varidens (Garman 1885) and there are apparently 5 other lineages that remain undescribed!
